Career Journey – From Graduate Surveyor to Estimator

We are delighted to announce that Calum Hunt has been promoted to the position of Estimator.

Calum’s career started with us in 2015 when he joined our Surveying Department on a Summer work placement whilst studying at University.   Once Calum graduated from Heriot-Watt University with an Honours degree in Quantity Surveying in 2016 he joined our Surveying Department as a Graduate Surveyor and was involved on a number of projects for The City of Edinburgh Council and West Lothian Council.

In early 2017 Calum began to show an interest in the work undertaken by our Estimating Department and when a position became available within Estimating around that time, Calum transferred from Surveying to the Estimating Department. His promotion within the Estimating Department recognises Calum’s commitment, growing experience and consistency in delivering tender returns to the required standards within tight timescales. Calum continues to price the majority of tender types and has a successful strike rate in winning work in both number of tenders and value.

Calum said “I am glad that Maxi Construction saw me as an eligible prospect back in 2015. Not only have they seen me through my training and pushed me towards bettering myself in every aspect of work, they have also let me create my own career path rather than pushing me into a role I didn’t think I was suitable in. I cannot speak any higher of the company, it has been a great place to start my career and I look forward to the future with Maxi.”
