Recently promoted to Quantity Surveyor, Darren Cassidy shares his journey into the industry and explains how his career has progressed.

In 2017, Darren joined Maxi Construction fresh from James Young High School, keen to pursue a career in the Construction Industry. With acceptance to university already in place, Maxi Construction agreed to assist Darren through a Part-Time University Degree in Quantity Surveying; therefore providing Darren with an opportunity to gain experience in the Construction Industry whilst completing his studies.

In 2022, Darren graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with an Honours degree in Quantity Surveying and was involved in a number of projects, taking on more responsibilities and continuing his professional development.

An integral part of the Quantity Surveying department, Darren has shown that his route into the Construction industry has been successful.

Speaking of his time with Maxi Construction, Darren said: “In my 5 years at Maxi Construction, I have gained a lot of key experience in my role and had continuous support in my development. I’m grateful to Maxi Construction for taking a chance on me as a kid just out of school and aim to show that through my work. I look forward to continuing my career in Construction as no day is ever the same and with every new projects comes new challenges. I would highly recommend a career in the Construction Industry.”
