Description of Works: Design and Build responsibilities for the refurbishment of 2 no. 9-storey occupied residential buildings.

Works included:

• Replacement of 19.5m high glazed screens with curtain walling, inclusive of Auto Opening Vents
• Replacement of communal fire-rated doorsets across all levels
• Formation of new escape corridors
• New communal entrance doors
• New dry risers
• Replacement of cold water storage tanks
• Replacement of backup generators in new external housings
• Replacement/alterations to electrical distribution systems and lighting

Added Value:

• Ground Floor front entrance screens were changed to a specification that matched what is being rolled out across the city under different contracts by others
• Generator housing roof construction simplified to a one piece pre-cast unit with in-built slope instead of flat in-situ concrete with a screed overlay to create slope
• Refinement of electrical distribution systems for improved long-term maintenance.
