Maxi Construction’s Fourth Annual Foodbank Donation
Maxi Construction’s team of Christmas Elves helped deliver the haul of food, toiletries and children’s toys from this year’s collection which included impressive donations from staff and supply chain members at our Head Office in Livingston and 8 of our sites across East and Central Scotland.
The 476.50kg of food collected which equates to 830 meals, has been donated to Trussell Trust distribution centres in West Lothian and Edinburgh where food packages will be created and distributed to those in need.
The Trussell Trust is an anti-poverty charity that supports a network of more than 1,200 food bank centres across the UK. New data released in November revealed April – September 2019 was the busiest half-year period for food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network since the charity opened. During the six months, 823,145 three-day emergency food parcels were given to people in crisis in the UK; more than a third of these (301,653) went to children. This is a 23% increase on the same period in 2018 – the sharpest rate of increase the charity has seen for the past five years.
