Maxi Construction’s fourth annual foodbank collection is now underway with collection points set up in our Livingston office and 8 of our sites across East and Central Scotland.
This year’s collection is running from Monday 18th November until Tuesday 10th December. The food collected will be donated to Trussell Trust distribution centres across Scotland local to each collection point where food packages will be created and distributed to those in need.
Maxi Construction staff have pulled together over the last three years and donated over 570kg of food items which is equivalent to 81 single food parcels.
The Trussell Trust is an anti-poverty charity that supports a network of more than 1,200 food bank centres across the UK. New data released in November revealed April – September 2019 was the busiest half-year period for food banks in the Trussell Trust’s network since the charity opened. During the six months, 823,145 three-day emergency food parcels were given to people in crisis in the UK; more than a third of these (301,653) went to children. This is a 23% increase on the same period in 2018 – the sharpest rate of increase the charity has seen for the past five years.
