Maxi Construction aim to improve the awareness of mental health in Construction

Maxi Construction are committed to raising the awareness of the Mental Health issues within the Construction industry and are pleased to announce that our Managing Director, John Aitchison and Construction Director, Barry Simpson are now certified Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs).

Recent studies have suggested that construction workers are 10 times more likely to die by suicide than from on-site accidents and 1 in 5 construction workers could be suffering from mental health issues.  These staggering statistics drive a need to raise awareness and to put to an end the discrimination and stigma that we often see attached to mental health.

Awareness of the issues contributing to and associated with mental health is vital in proactively supporting our workforce. All employees and supply chain members involved in Maxi Construction projects will receive a presentation on mental health in which they will be made aware of the help available, and our new MHFAs will provide a continuing network of support.
