Maxi’s fifth annual foodbank collection underway

Maxi Construction’s fifth annual food bank collection is now underway with collection points set up in our Livingston office and five of our sites across East and Central Scotland.

Maxi Construction employees and supply chain partners have pulled together over the last four years and donated over 2000kg of food items to food banks in West Lothian, Edinburgh, East Lothian and Clackmannanshire.

This year, our collection is running from Monday 9th November until Monday 30th November. The food collected will be donated to Trussell Trust distribution centres across Scotland; local to each collection point where food packages will be created and distributed to those in need.

The Trussell Trust is an anti-poverty charity that supports a network of more than 1,200 food bank centres across the UK. They provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.

New research, carried out with Heriot Watt University, estimates 846,000 parcels will need to be provided by The Trussell Trust network to people in crisis during October to December 2020 – a 61% increase on last year.
