Career Ready Student Joins Maxi
In 2017 Maxi Construction began to support Career Ready with a commitment to mentoring and a paid internship. Career Ready is a charity whose aim is to support secondary school pupils into employment by connecting schools with local employers to open up the world of work to young people. Our Mentor and Contracts Manager, Martin Horner, was matched with a local secondary school student with an interest in the construction industry, Louis Jones. Louis completed his internship with us in summer 2018 and we’re delighted that he has now joined Maxi Construction as a Construction Administrator.
Looking to pursue a career in project management, Louis will attend West Lothian College in August to study NC Built Environment whilst working for Maxi and next year he is hopeful to continue his studies with an HND in Construction Management.
Martin, who spent 2 years mentoring Louis, commented “I’m delighted that Louis has joined the Company. I’ve enjoyed being Louis’ mentor and wish him well with his studies in Construction Management.”
Louis added “ The Career Ready Programme has been an amazing experience for me, it gave me confidence and a great opportunity for me to pursue my career in construction. I’m very grateful for Maxi allowing me to come back, I couldn’t ask for a better team to work with.”
