West Lothian College Student Work Placements

Throughout April we provided work placements at our Head Office for 3 HND Accounts/Business Admin students from West Lothian College.  The placements offered the students the opportunity to experience first-hand how the knowledge and skills they learn in college can be applied in business.

Our Compliance Manager, Lisa Aitken, who managed the work placements created timetables for the students to enable them to experience different departments within the business.  Feedback from the students included:

“My time at Maxi Construction has been one of the best learning opportunities I could have ever wished for. The company’s commitment to developing my work-related skills was evident from the start. I was given a fantastic opportunity to learn about many aspects that contribute to effective business operations and experience one of the most desirable business cultures to work in. The cooperation and respect within the team were exceptional, and I felt welcomed and valued. Each task I completed was appreciated, and I was encouraged to further my development. This experience has significantly influenced my career goals and aspirations.”

“During my work placement at Maxi Construction I spent a day with each department. While spending time with administration I investigated health and safety measures. With the quantity surveyors I took part in a site audit. With the estimators I measured and analysed planning for sites. With marketing I looked at social media posts and meetings about tenders. This work placement gave me a variety of ways to decide what I wanted to do at university.”

“I really enjoyed being able to see the operation of different departments and their connection. Staff shared with me their career path and what they enjoy in their position. It has given me an insight into different roles available within the construction industry.”
