Teaching Space Refurbishment
Location: Old Medical School, University of Edinburgh
Summary: Internal refurbishment works to teaching spaces
Description of Works: Refurbishment of 10 existing teaching spaces within the University’s old Medical School, a Grade B listed city centre building, which remained operational throughout the works.
Works included:
- minor demolition and strip-out
- partition walls
- supply and installation of new air conditioning system
- new M&E installations including power, lighting, data comms, AV equipment and ventilation
- new wall linings and wall finishes
- internal doors and doorsets
- painterwork
- flooring including carpet tiles
- new ceilings including suspended and plasterboard ceilings and finishes
- fixtures and fittings including notice boards and roller blinds
Added Value
- There were a number of days where works were prohibited within certain rooms due to exams and an open day.
- To control the spread of dust we used ‘Protec’ products (zip wall, zip door & tacky mat) which allowed work zones to be segregated whilst allowing easy access to site staff.
