Student Focussed Improvement Works West Lothian College

Location: Livingston

Summary: Extension and alterations to 4 buildings within the operational college campus

Description of Works:

Procured via Lot 1.1.4 of the Crown Commercial Service Construction Works & Associated Services Framework, this project is for :

• A new glass and steel front entrance to Building 1
• Creation of an electrical workshop
• Creation of a digital health suite
• Creation of a self-contained area for the Access, Schools and Employability team

Works included:

• Downtakings/demolition
• Installation of new structural steelwork
• Curtain walling
• Automatic doors
• Partition walls
• Folding partition walls
• Glazed screens
• All associated internal finishes including joinerwork, flooring and decoration
• Mechanical & electrical works including lighting, power, data and alarm systems
• External works including paving

Added Value:

• Buildability advice including incorporating design work for drainage
• Restraints for high level bulkheads to retain the existing plasterboard and framing, saving the need to fully remove then rebuild
• Alternative folding partition design to avoid the need for new steel beams

Community Benefits:

• Apprentice Week 2022 activities including site tours and participation in college video
• Donation of pallets for school event at the college
• Carpet tiles lifted carefully for re-use elsewhere in the college instead of disposal
