Conservation projects

Description of Works: External and internal retrofit works to a 2-storey Victorian building to provide 272m² of nursery accommodation including play and activity rooms, designated quiet room, functional facilities of kitchen, office, cloaks and toilet facilities. Initial enabling works included a full strip out of all fixtures/fittings/services, taking external walls back to bare stone and lifting ground floor joisted floor to give a blank canvas to introduce the design based on EnerPhit principles.

Works included:

• Fire protection
• Insulated limecrete floor screed to the ground floor
• Formation of an airtightness line via insulated lime plaster and AVCL membranes
• Slate roof repairs and introduction of natural ventilation
• Masonry repairs and re-pointing
• Ceilings and partitions for the room configurations
• New sash and case windows and external doors
• Internal timber doorsets
• Vinyl, hardwood and carpet floor finishes
• Mechanical and electrical installations including air source heat pump, heating, ventilation, power, lighting, security and comms systems
• Fixtures and fittings included kitchens, toilets, roller blinds, shelving, pinboards
• External works included hard landscaping and acoustic fencing
