Summary: Games hall extension and internal alterations to operational primary school
Description of Works: The construction of an extension to an operational primary school to provide a games hall, changing areas, entrance and reception area together with alterations to allow disabled access throughout the various levels of the school.
Works included:
- downtakings
- foundations and drainage
- precast concrete floor slab
- design and construction of timber panels
- design and construction of structural steel
- standing seam roof cladding
- single ply roofing membrane
- brickwork
- curtain walling, windows and doors
- partition walls
- suspended ceilings
- M&E installations including power, lighting, data comms, security and access control systems, heating and ventilation
- platform lift installation
- plasterwork
- painterwork
- flooring including vinyl, carpet and Gerfloor sports flooring
- fit-out works including reception and office fixtures and fittings, changing and toilet areas including IPS panels
- external works including paving and fencing
Added Value
We re-used the following materials in order to reduce costs:
- salvaged original windows which were originally to be replaced
- salvaged cladding materials which were originally to be discarded and replaced with patchwork render
Community Benefits
- our Site Manager assisted school pupils with the preparation of a regular project update blog
- sub-contractors were included in training courses and events
