Summary: Alterations and extensions to operational sports centre for West Lothian Leisure.

Description of Works: Phased alterations, extension and refurbishment works to an operational sports centre to provide a state of the art facility including gym, fitness studios, changing and toilet facilities, soft play, reception, offices and communal areas.

Works included:

• Downtakings and strip-out
• Replacement of wall cladding and roof finishes to sections of the existing building
• Construction of a 550m² steel-frame extension to the rear of the Centre to form a new Gym featuring 120 pieces of new kit
• Construction of a single storey extension to the front of the Centre to form a new entrance and reception area.
• General fitting out of the existing building and new extensions, comprising:
  • Load bearing and non-loadbearing metal stud partition walls
  • Solid core door sets; glazed internal screens
  • Shopfitting to Reception and Office areas; kitchen fitments; barrier entry control system; lockers to staff and changing rooms; display panels, shelving; internal signage
  • Contractor designed mechanical services installation
  • Contractor designed electrical installations, protective and communications installations

Added Value

Review of lighting scheme to provide alternate solution to feature lighting maintaining importance of the feature but reducing the cost.  Review of ventilation proposals to provide alternative solution to gym ventilation, again to maintain performance but reduce cost.
