Description of Works: Refurbishment and alterations to 3 levels of the existing dry sports area to provide upgraded fitness facilities including:

• gym containing:
  • over 250 brand new pieces of kit
  • 60 pieces of state of the art cardio equipment (treadmills, cross trainers, bikes, rowers, tread climbers and step mill)
  • over 50 resistance machines
  • huge range of free weights including Olympic weightlifting platforms
  • brand new functional training area with a rig and brand new training equipment (including tyres, kettlebells and TRX)
• dance studios
• soft play area
• café
• reception area
• extension to form a new entrance area.

Works included:

• structural alterations
• structural steelwork
• partition walls, glazed screens and wood doorsets
• mechanical and electrical works including strip-out, power, lighting, data comms, air handling units, air conditioning system, PA system, access control, fire and security systems and CCTV
• flooring including vinyl, carpet tiles and Junckers strip wood
• suspended ceilings
• wall finishes including painterwork and ceramic tiling

Added Value

Value engineering advice provided during the project resulted in cost savings for the Client of around £25k in the following areas:

• Alternative specification for AHU
• Alternative controls sub contractor to the one specified
• Specification change to suspended ceiling grid changing from anti corrosion to standard grid in areas where moisture was not an issue
• Omitted screed to new first floor by increasing level of finished slab
